Refugee hiring benefits refugees, businesses, and society as a whole
Acting CEO Natsayi Sithole spoke at The Conduit’s Refugee Summit which convened businesses, NGOs, government and changemakers to discuss solutions to the global refugee crisis.
On February 2024, Natsayi took part in a panel discussion about refugee employment titled “Win-win-win: the benefits of refugee hiring for refugees themselves, businesses, and society as a whole”
Employment has been shown to be the biggest factor in successful refugee integration. Yet refugees face many barriers to employment – from language barriers to a lack of recognition for their overseas qualifications and experience.
The panel discussion, moderated by our sector partners the Tent Partnership for Refugees (TENT), brought together speakers representing the private sector, NGOs supporting refugee inclusion, and the refugee experience for a conversation about how to accelerate the economic integration of refugees.
Making workplaces inclusive of refugees
To benefit from refugee talent, employers must make their businesses more inclusive so refugees can access the local labour market. Hear Natsayi on some of the most effective strategies to facilitate access to the local labour market for refugees.
The Refugee Summit was hosted by The Conduit – a collaborative community of people committed to creating a just, prosperous and sustainable future – and covered employment, housing and access to finance.
